What is double mini-trampoline, and how is it scored?

I · Intermediate · Synchronised, tumbling and double mini-trampoline · 7 of 7
Checked 14 October 2026

A gymnast runs up to a small two-level trampoline and performs two elements: one onto or on the bed and a dismount from it onto a landing mat. At most three contacts with the bed are allowed and no plain bounce between the elements. The score is execution out of 20 plus difficulty, less penalties for where the landing falls.

How it works

  • Two elements: "one (1) mounting element or spotter element and one (1) dismount element".
  • Three contacts: "a maximum of three (3) contacts with the bed are allowed with no intermediate bounce between the two elements".
  • A mounting element: takes off from the mounting zone at the front and lands in the zone at the back.
  • A spotter element: takes off and lands in the back zone.
  • The dismount: takes off from the back zone and lands in the landing area.
  • The wrong zone: a first element not done in the correct area makes the exercise invalid, scoring 0.
  • A plain jump: a straight jump onto the bed is not an element. Used as the spotter or dismount, it interrupts the exercise.
  • The score: "Score = E (max. 20 pts) + D – P".
  • Difficulty: each somersault 0.5 and each half twist 0.2, with multiple somersaults multiplied and bonuses for piked and straight positions.
  • Landing zones: landing inside zone B costs 0.6 and inside zone C 1.0. Stepping out of a zone after landing costs 0.2.
  • The pads: touching the pads or springs costs 0.2 each time and does not interrupt.
  • One element only: the maximum execution mark is then 16.

The glossary has trampoline gymnastics, the trampoline scoring entry, the somersault, the twist, the landing, the bounce and the trampoline difficulty entry.

Tricky cases

A gymnast lands the first element and takes one bounce to steady before the dismount. Is that allowed?

No. There may be no intermediate bounce between the two elements.

The first element is good and the dismount lands on the trampoline and not the mat. Is anything scored?

Yes. A first element correctly done in the prescribed areas is always counted, whatever happens in the dismount.

A gymnast's leg brushes the side pad during the exercise. Is that an interruption?

No. Because the bed is narrow, touching the pads or springs costs 0.2 and does not interrupt. A foot plainly landing off the bed does.

Where exactly are zones A, B and C?

In a drawing that the text copy does not carry. The text gives the penalties for B and C and for stepping between them.

Why the rule exists

With only two elements, everything rides on the second, so the rules protect the first: it must be a real element in the right place and not a set-up bounce. The landing zones do for this event what horizontal displacement does on the big trampoline. They put a price on travelling sideways or too far.
