Rules that matter

  • Gymnasts from countries with a team cannot win individual places.
  • At most three individual gymnasts per country, one per apparatus place.
  • Apparatus at the 2027 World Championships: only gymnasts ranked 1 to 3 in the final count; if a medal goes to someone already in, the next medallist takes it. If no medallist is eligible, the place moves to the World Cup Series.
  • Apparatus World Cup Series: the best four of six events count; one place per apparatus per country.
  • Continental championships: each continental union chooses whether the all-around qualification or the final decides. This is how every continent is guaranteed a gymnast.
  • Apparatus specialists may compete on every apparatus in the Olympic qualification round.
  • Host: if the United States already has a man and a woman in, its host places pass to the next all-around gymnasts at the 2027 World Championships.
