The Formula 1 weekend

  1. How does a Formula 1 race weekend work?A Formula 1 season has up to 24 Grands Prix.
  2. How does F1 qualifying work?Qualifying has three parts: Q1 of 18 minutes, Q2 of 15 and Q3 of 13, with seven-minute breaks.
  3. How long is an F1 race?A race is the fewest complete laps covering more than 305 km, or 260 km at Monaco.
  4. How are F1 points awarded?The top ten in a race score 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1, with no point for the fastest lap.

Racing

  1. How does an F1 race start?After a formation lap behind the pole sitter, cars stop in their grid slots.
  2. Do F1 drivers have to make a pit stop?There are hard, medium and soft dry tyres, an intermediate and a wet.
