Teams and equipment

What are the rules of tug of war?Two teams of eight pull on opposite ends of one rope.
What are the tug of war weight classes?Teams compete as men, women or mixed, in senior, under-23 and junior groups.

Pulling

How does a tug of war pull start?When both coaches signal ready, the judge calls "Pick up the rope", then "Take the strain" to make the rope taut.
How do you win in tug of war?A pull is won when the rope travels the set distance, or the other team is disqualified.
