How is a Thang-Ta bout won?
B · Beginner · The fight · 4 of 4The fighter with more marks wins. If marks are level, the one who has been warned loses. If neither or both have the same warnings, a one-minute extra round follows; if that fails, a toss decides with the players' consent. A player who does not answer the call within three minutes loses by walk-over.
How it works
- More marks: wins.
- Level marks: warned fighter loses.
- Still level: one-minute extra round.
- Then: a toss.
- No-show: walk-over after three minutes.
- Both absent: both may be disqualified.
- Injured and unfit: opponent wins.
- Final word: chief jury.
The glossary has the declaring the winner, the walk-over, the injury and decision, the surrender, the warning (cheirak) and the chief jury.
Tricky cases
An injured fighter is ahead. Do they win?
Only with the chief jury's permission.
Can a seriously injured fighter carry on?
Only on the team doctor's advice.
Does a disqualified fighter keep earlier medals in that competition?
No. They get no prize or grading from it.
Who raises the winner's hand?
The referee, as the chief jury indicates.
Why the rule exists
