The races

  1. What is a false start in short track? At ISU events and the Olympics, the first false start brings a penalty: the skater is out of that race.

Infringements, relays and results

  1. What is the difference between a penalty and a yellow card in short track?A penalty puts the skater last in that race and ends their run in the distance, but keeps earlier results.
  2. When is a short track race restarted? If an irregularity may affect the result, the referee may stop the race and order an immediate restart, or a re-run after the race.
  3. How does a short track relay work?A relay team has four skaters racing, who change over by touch, usually a push from behind.
