How does an SH2 shooter hold the rifle?
I · Intermediate · Classes and equipment · 1 of 4Every SH2 athlete uses a spring support stand on the table or a tripod. Subclass a uses the weak white spring, subclass b the strong black one. The rifle may not touch both sides of the yoke at once. SH2 athletes may have a loader if classification allows; the loader stays silent and only loads or adjusts sights on request.
How it works
- Stand: compulsory for SH2.
- Upper part: 200 g or less.
- Spring a: weak, white.
- Spring b: strong, black.
- Test: 250 g and 720 g bars.
- Yoke: rifle not touching both sides.
- Loader: SH2 only, if permitted.
- Loader rules: silent, touches only the barrel.
The glossary has the SH2 rifle support stand, the support stand spring, the SH2 muscle power subclass, the loader, the loading in finals and the WSPS licence.
Tricky cases
Can a loader tell the shooter the score?
No. Loaders may not speak or signal.
Can an SH2 athlete use different springs for 10 m and 50 m?
Yes.
Are firing points left empty in SH2 events?
At least every third is recommended; the Technical Delegate decides.
Can a loader adjust the sights unasked?
No. Only when the athlete asks.
Why the rule exists
The spring takes the weight but still lets the rifle move, so the shooter must hold aim. A stronger arm gets a weaker spring.
