How a match works, in a minute
How para shooting works
- Para shooting is rifle, pistol and shotgun shooting for athletes with a physical or vision impairment. Shooting's own rules apply unless the para rules say otherwise.
- SH1 shooters hold the gun themselves. SH2 rifle shooters have an arm impairment and rest the rifle on a spring support stand. SH-VI shooters are vision impaired.
- Many athletes shoot from a shooting chair. In "prone" events they sit with their elbows on a table rather than lying down.
- Vision-impaired shooters aim by sound: a tone in their headphones rises as they aim nearer the centre. As in shooting, the highest score wins.
How long
Most rifle matches are 60 shots; standing air rifle allows 1 hour 15 minutes.
