How is a mallakhamb routine scored?
I · Intermediate · Sets and scoring · 3 of 4An optional set is scored out of 10: difficulty 3.40, combination 1.60 and execution 5.00. Elements are class A (0.20), B (0.40) or C (0.60); in Competition I full difficulty needs four A, five B and one C. Combination rewards a balanced set: both sides, bends both ways and at least 16 elements on the pole or 18 on the rope.

Tricky cases
How long must a rope hold last?
Two seconds. Less is incomplete; more is a pause.
What does a rope set need for full combination?
Among others: the rope held in the legs at 4 m, a B mount and a C dismount.
Do the finals need harder sets?
Yes. Two C elements instead of one.
Does a hold count twice if shown twice on the rope?
No. One hold counts as one difficulty.
Why the rule exists
The combination marks stop a competitor filling a set with the same few favourite elements.
