Crews and boats

  1. How does dragon boat racing work?A dragon boat crew of up to 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steerer races a long, narrow boat down a straight lane.
  2. How many people are in a dragon boat crew?A standard boat carries 18 to 20 paddlers, one drummer and one steerer, and a crew may name up to four reserves.

The race

  1. How are dragon boat races organised?Races are held in straight lanes at least 9 m wide, with no more than nine boats in a race.
