The routines

  1. What are the events in artistic swimming, and can men compete?There are seven: women's solo, men's solo, women's duet, mixed duet, open team, open free combination and open acrobatic routine.
  2. What is the difference between a technical routine and a free routine?A technical routine must contain set movements, the technical required elements, which every competitor performs.

Judging and results

  1. How is artistic swimming scored?A routine's score is the elements score plus the artistic impression score, less any penalties.
  2. How is the winner decided when an event has more than one routine?The scores of the sessions are added.
