How a match works, in a minute
How a wheelchair rugby game works
- Wheelchair rugby is a mixed team sport for players with impairments of both arms and legs. Four a side, in reinforced chairs, try to carry the ball over the other team's try line.
- A try is scored when a player with the ball gets two wheels across the line. Chair contact is allowed; body contact is not.
- Players are classed 0.5 to 3.5 points, a lower number meaning more impairment. The four on court may total at most eight points.
- A team with the ball has 40 seconds to score. The team with more tries after four periods wins.
How long
Four periods of 8 minutes, on a clock that stops. A tie goes to 3-minute overtimes.
