Scoring and winning

Playing the ball, attacking and blocking

  1. Why are hand sets called so strictly in beach volleyball?The ball must rebound cleanly: it may not be caught, thrown or hit twice by the same player.
  2. Can you tip the ball in beach volleyball?Not with an open hand.
  3. Can you touch the net or go under it in beach volleyball?Touching the net between the antennae while playing the ball is a fault.

Time-outs, conduct, officials and the court

  1. How many time-outs are there in beach volleyball?Each team may take one time-out of 30 seconds in each set, requested by its captain.
