How a match works, in a minute
How a squash match works
- Two players share one court and hit the ball in turn against the front wall. They may play it off the side and back walls too.
- A good return is hit before the ball bounces twice and reaches the front wall above the tin and below the out line.
- The winner of every rally scores a point and serves next. A game is played to 11; at 10-all a player must lead by two.
- A match is normally the best of five games.
Getting in the way
After a shot, a player must get out of the opponent's way. If they do not, the referee gives a let (the rally is replayed) or a stroke (the rally goes to the player who was blocked).
