How a match works, in a minute
How ski jumping is scored
- Each jumper speeds down the in-run, takes off and flies down the hill.
- A jump scores distance points: 60 for reaching the hill's K point, plus a set value for each metre beyond it, or minus for each metre short.
- Five judges mark each jump for flight, landing and outrun. The highest and lowest are dropped, for up to 60 style points.
- Points can also be added or taken off for the wind and the start gate. Most competitions have two scored rounds, and the highest total wins; only the top 30 after the first round jump again.
