How to qualify in Skateboarding

How skateboarders qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

Checked 20 October 2026Valid for: the LA28 Olympic skateboarding events only, under Qualification System, Games of the XXXIV Olympiad, LA28, World Skate, Skateboarding, version as of 10 July 2026 (the same version DOSB lists in October 2026). Open: the World Skateboarding Ranking points criteria (World Skate publishes them separately; not saved); the exact dates of the Montreal and Orlando Qualifier Series events.

Skateboarding at Los Angeles 2028 has four events: park and street for men and for women, 22 skaters each. A country can have three skaters per event. Places go to skaters by name.

There is one route: the World Skateboarding Ranking (WSR) on 11 June 2028. Points count from 11 June 2026, so the race is already on. It runs in two phases:

  1. Phase 1, 11 June 2026 to 31 March 2028: World Cups and the World Championships, open to any skater a federation enters.
  2. Phase 2, 31 March to 11 June 2028: the Olympic Qualifier Series (Tokyo for both; Montreal and Orlando for park). Only the best 44 skaters per event from Phase 1 can enter, at most six per country.

The top 20 on the final ranking qualify (three per country at most), with one place kept for each continent. Then one host place and one universality place per event.

  • Continental places: if a continent has no skater in the top places, its best-ranked skater takes a place (from the 31 March 2028 ranking if none is on the June list).
  • Per country: three per event, six across park and street per gender.
  • Universality: the skater must be in the top half of the ranking or the top 50, whichever is the better cut-off (for example, with 80 ranked skaters, the top 40).
  • Host: the best-ranked American if none has qualified.
