Events and scoring

  1. How do you win in pistol shooting?The highest total score wins.
  2. How does the 10 m air pistol event work?Each athlete fires 60 shots in 1 hour 15 minutes at a target 10 metres away, standing and holding an air pistol in one hand.

Finals and ties

  1. Who shoots in a final, and what are the rules before the first shot?The eight highest-ranking athletes in qualification go to the final in every Olympic event, and everyone starts from zero.
  2. How does the 10 m air pistol final work?The final is up to 24 shots, scored in decimals from zero.
  3. How does the mixed team event work?A mixed team is one man and one woman from the same nation, shooting 10 m air pistol.
