Who serves in doubles pickleball?
I · Intermediate · The game · 1 of 5Checked 15 October 2026
The server serves from the right when their side's score is even and from the left when odd, switching after each point won. In doubles the player on the right after a side out serves first. During a rally players may stand anywhere on their side. A wrong server can be corrected.
How it works
- Even score: serve from the right.
- Odd score: from the left.
- Point won: server switches side.
- Side out: right-hand player serves first.
- Starting server: wears identification.
- Receivers: do not switch.
- During rallies: anywhere.
- Errors: corrected on claim.
The glossary has the first server and second server, the starting server, the server, the player positions, the server or position error and the poaching.
