How a match works, in a minute
How a para taekwondo contest works
- Para taekwondo is sparring for athletes with an arm impairment, in classes K41 and K44 and five weight categories for each gender.
- Points come from kicks to the electronic trunk protector: two for a valid kick, four for a turning or spinning kick. Kicking the head is not allowed.
- Each foul, a gam-jeom, gives the opponent one point.
- The scores of the rounds add up, and the higher total wins. A tie goes to a one-minute golden round: the first to two points wins.
How long
Three rounds of two minutes, with a minute's rest.
