How a match works, in a minute
How para table tennis works
- Para table tennis is played under the ordinary laws of table tennis, with a few changes for wheelchair players.
- Players compete in eleven sport classes: 1 to 5 play seated, 6 to 10 play standing, and 11 is for intellectual impairment. In each group a lower number means a more severe impairment.
- The umpire may relax the service rules where a player's impairment prevents them, such as throwing the ball up.
- When both players are in wheelchairs, a player who loses contact with the seat while striking loses the point. Otherwise points, games and matches are won as in table tennis.
