How to qualify in Para table tennis

How para table tennis players qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics

Checked 20 October 2026Valid for: para table tennis at the LA28 Paralympic Games, under the IPC's Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games Qualification Regulations v1.12 (16 October 2026), chapter 25 (ITTF; added 11 September 2026). Not covered: how the ITTF World Para Ranking is scored (the ITTF site refused downloads, so the ranking regulations are not saved); classification (classes 1 to 11).

Para table tennis at LA28 has 32 medal events and 280 places (140 men, 140 women):

  • Singles, classes 1 to 11, for men and for women (22 events). Classes 1 to 5 play in wheelchairs, 6 to 10 standing, and 11 is for players with an intellectual impairment.
  • Doubles, by combined class: men's MD4, MD8, MD14, MD18; women's WD5, WD10, WD14, WD20; mixed XD7 and XD17 (10 events).

Places belong to the player or pair, not the country. They are given in this order:

  1. 2027 Para Continental Championships (Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, Oceania): each singles champion.
  2. World doubles ranking: the top pairs from one country.
  3. World singles ranking of 5 April 2028: the next best in each class.
  4. World Qualification Tournament (May 2028): each singles winner.
  5. Invitations.

So for an Indian player the first chance is the 2027 Asian Para Championships: win your class, and you are in.

A country can have at most three players per gender per class and enter two per singles event.
