How a para snowboard race works
- Para snowboard is snowboard racing for riders with a lower-limb or upper-limb impairment. Riders race within their sport class: SB-LL1 and SB-LL2 for leg impairments, SB-UL for arm impairments.
- Snowboard cross runs on a course of banks, rollers and jumps. A timed qualification, one rider at a time, leads to knockout heats where riders race together.
- Banked slalom is a time trial through gates on banked turns. Riders make two runs and the better one counts.
- In the heats the first riders across the line go through; in the time trials the fastest time wins.
How long
A snowboard cross run takes 40 to 70 seconds.
