How to qualify in Para cross-country skiing
How para cross-country skiers qualify for the World Championships
Checked 20 October 2026Valid for: the 2027 FIS Para Cross-Country World Championships, Finsterau, Germany, under the FIS Qualification Guide (July 2026; version 2 filed 14 August 2026). Not covered: French Alps 2030 Paralympic qualification (not published); how FIS para points are worked out (see the para cross-country ranking page); para biathlon.
There are 20 medal events: sprint, 10 km and 20 km mass start for vision impaired, standing and sitting skiers, women and men (18), plus two mixed relays (4 × 2.5 km).
There is no qualifying race. To be entered, a skier must:
- hold a 2026-27 FIS para cross-country licence;
- be internationally classified (Confirmed, or Review with a date in 2027 or later);
- be born in 2011 or earlier;
- have 460 FIS points or fewer on the 6th FIS para cross-country points list (fewer points is better).
Skiers who miss that level can be given a wild card if they have 340 points or fewer in at least one competition on the same list.
