  1. How does para biathlon work?Para biathlon combines cross-country skiing with shooting an air rifle at five targets 10 m away.
  2. Do blind biathletes need a guide?Classes follow the FIS para Nordic rules: NS1 to NS3 vision impaired, LW2 to LW9 standing and LW10 to LW12 sitting.

Shooting and penalties

  1. How long is the penalty loop in para biathlon?Each missed target costs one penalty loop, skied straight after the bout: 150 m for standing and VI athletes, 100 m for sit-skiers and 75 m in sprint pursuit finals and the team sprint.
