The game

  1. How long is a netball match?A match is four quarters of 15 minutes, with four-minute breaks after the first and third and a 12-minute half-time.

Playing the ball

  1. Can the ball skip a third in netball?A pass may not cross a whole third untouched: a player standing wholly in each third, or landing there first, must catch or touch it.
  2. What happens when the ball goes out in netball? The ball is out when it touches the ground, or anything touching the ground, outside the court.
  3. What is offside in netball?A player is offside when they enter an area their position may not use, with or without the ball.

Defending and sanctions

  1. What is the difference between a free pass and a penalty pass in netball?A minor infringement gives a free pass where it happened; the player taking it may not shoot.
