Can you be sent off in netball?
A · Advanced · Defending and sanctions · 1 of 2Unfair play, unsporting behaviour and dangerous play bring a game management action as well as a sanction. Umpires use advice, an advanced or escalated pass, a warning, a two-minute suspension with no substitute, and ordering off. An ordered-off player takes no further part; the team may replace them after four minutes. Each player gets one warning and one suspension per match.
How it works
- Unfair play: delay, repeated or intended infringing, dispute.
- Intimidation: distracting an opponent.
- Unsporting: retaliation, abuse.
- Dangerous play: reckless or head contact.
- Warning: one per player.
- Suspension: two minutes, no substitute.
- Ordered off: replaced after four minutes.
- Bench: same standards apply.
The glossary has the foul play, the unfair play, the intimidation, the unsporting behaviour, the game management actions and the bench behaviour.
