What replaced DRS in Formula 1?

I · Intermediate · Racing · 5 of 6
Checked 15 October 2026

From 2026 DRS is gone. Drivers can switch the front wing and rear flap from corner mode to straight mode in marked zones when the system allows. A driver within a set gap of the car ahead at the detection line gets Overtake, an extra burst of electrical power. Overtake is off behind the safety car and in low grip.

How it works

  • DRS: gone.
  • Straight mode: in marked zones.
  • Wings: front and rear.
  • Low grip: partial only.
  • Overtake: extra electric power.
  • Trigger: within gap at detection line.
  • Off: behind safety car.
  • Race Director: may disable it.

The glossary has the driver adjustable bodywork, the Overtake, the energy recovery, the low grip conditions, the overtaking and the power unit.
