How to qualify in Lacrosse
How lacrosse teams qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics
Valid for: the LA28 Olympic lacrosse (sixes) tournaments only, under Qualification System, Games of the XXXIV Olympiad, LA28, World Lacrosse, version as of 12 May 2026 (the same version DOSB lists in October 2026). Open: results of the continental qualifiers held so far; the exact dates of the World Lacrosse Sixes Championships (October or November 2027).
Lacrosse at Los Angeles 2028 is played in the sixes format: six teams of 11 players per gender. Places go to the country.
- Host: the United States, if it takes part in the continental qualifier and the World Championships.
- Continental qualifiers (2026) decide who plays the World Lacrosse Sixes Championships (16 teams per gender, October or November 2027). Asia-Pacific sends five teams (its qualifier was 5 to 10 October 2026).
- World Lacrosse Sixes Championships: the best four countries (other than the host), with at least one from each continental federation, and only teams in the top 12.
- Final Qualifying Tournament (March or April 2028): six teams, one place.

The rules
- At the World Championships, each continental federation gets at least one of the four places. With the host taking up the Americas' minimum, this applies to Africa, Asia-Pacific and Europe.
- A team must finish in the top 12 to win a place.
- The next six eligible teams go to the Final Qualifying Tournament (round robin, then a final between the top two). A federation with three teams already qualified sends none.
- Great Britain is the only British team that can win a place (England, Scotland and Wales play as Great Britain).
Who can play
Men at least 16 and women at least 15 the day before competition starts; members of a World Lacrosse full or multi-nation member that is part of an IOC-recognised NOC.
Places turned down
The next eligible team at the World Championships (an unused host place goes to the next team from any federation, unless that federation already has three).
