The competition

  1. How does a kata performance start and end?When the name appears on the monitor, the athlete has 35 seconds to walk to a starting point, bow and make the first move.

Judging

  1. What gets an athlete disqualified in kata?Some errors mean disqualification, shown as a mark of 0.0.
  2. How are kata groups decided, and can a result be protested?In round-robin groups a win is worth three victory points and there are no draws.
