What happens if a goalball game is tied?
I · Intermediate · Time-outs and results · 6 of 6If a winner is needed after a tie, a 6-minute golden-goal overtime follows a 5-minute break and a new coin toss. If still tied, extra throws follow: players throw and defend one-on-one in line-up order, until one team leads by more than the throws left. Then sudden death pairs decide it.
How it works
- Overtime: 6 minutes.
- Break: 5 minutes, new coin toss.
- Golden goal: first goal wins.
- Extra throws: one-on-one.
- Order: from the line-up sheet.
- Early finish: lead greater than throws left.
- Sudden death: pairs until one team leads.
- Eyeshades: worn by everyone.
The glossary has the overtime (goalball), the extra throws, the sudden death extra throws, the coin toss (goalball), the team time-out (goalball) and the substitution (goalball).
