How to qualify in Equestrian
How riders qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics (jumping, dressage, eventing)
Equestrian sport at Los Angeles 2028 has three disciplines, each with a team and an individual event, open to men and women together:
| Teams | Individuals | Places | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jumping | 20 | 15 | 75 |
| Dressage | 15 | 15 | 60 |
| Eventing | 16 | 17 | 65 |
A team is three horse-and-rider pairs. A country with a team cannot also win individual places. Places belong to the country.
Teams come first from the 2026 World Championships in Aachen (11 to 23 August 2026, already held), then from regional events in 2027 for each of seven FEI Olympic Groups. Individuals come mostly from an FEI Olympic Ranking of 2027 results, two per group.
India is in Olympic Group G (South-East Asia, Oceania), with Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand and others. Group G has its own team places and two individual places in each discipline.
Every horse and rider must also meet minimum eligibility requirements (clear enough rounds or scores at approved events) between 2027 and June 2028.

What Aachen 2026 decided
Dressage (official results, team competition): Germany, Great Britain, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands and Sweden took the six places (the United States, 8th, is host). Australia (13th) was the best Group G team and Thailand (19th) the other; the Group G place goes to Australia, subject to the FEI's confirmation. No Group F team is in the results, so that place moves to a 2027 Group F event.
Jumping: Germany won, Belgium second, Great Britain third, the United States (host) fourth. News reports put Italy fifth, Switzerland sixth and Ireland seventh; the seventh Olympic team place (8th overall) is not confirmed in the sources reached. Not saved; to be confirmed from FEI results.
Eventing: Great Britain won, Germany second, the United States (host) third. The other five places are not confirmed in the sources reached.
