How a match works, in a minute
How a breaking battle works
- A battle is two breakers taking turns to dance. One performs a set, the other answers, and the two sets make a round.
- The DJ chooses the music, and the breakers do not know it in advance. Both dance to the same track in a round.
- After each round every judge votes for one breaker, comparing them on technique, variety, performance, musicality, creativity and personality. The breaker with most votes wins the round.
- The breaker who wins more rounds wins the battle.
How long
A set lasts 60 seconds at most. At the Olympics the knockout battles are best of three rounds.
