Tricky cases
A 15-year-old turns 16 in December. Can they race in October?
Yes, if they turn 16 before the end of the calendar year in which the season ends.
Can a junior enter the senior race?
Yes. Juniors normally race in their own class but may enter the senior class.
It is -18 °C with strong wind. Must the race go ahead?
Not necessarily. The jury may postpone or cancel for strong wind after consulting team captains and the medical chief.
Who decides if a racer is fit?
Their national association; a medical check is done only on request.
Why the rule exists
A minimum age protects young skiers from the longest races. The cold limit guards against frostbite, which is a real risk at racing speeds.
