History
Rowing was on the programme of the first Games at Hamilton in 1930 and of every Games from 1938 to 1962. It was for men only. It returned once, at Edinburgh in 1986, with eight men's and seven women's events. England was the best nation at four of the seven Games (1930, 1958, 1962, 1986), Australia at two and New Zealand at one.
