How a match works, in a minute
How a rifle event works
Shown with 10 m air rifle.
- Each shot scores by the ring it lands in: 10 at the centre, less towards the edge, and zero for a miss.
- In qualification each athlete fires 60 shots at a target 10 metres away, standing. The highest totals go through.
- The eight best go to the final, where everyone starts again from zero. Final shots are scored in decimals, such as 10.6.
- In the final the lowest scorer drops out after every second shot from the twelfth on, until two are left. The highest score wins.
How long
Qualification allows 1 hour 15 minutes for 60 shots. The final is up to 24 shots.
