What changes the result
The rules behind the moments commentators get excited about. They build on the beginner rules.

- What is the 45-second rule in rink hockey?A team winning the ball in its own half has 10 seconds to cross halfway, then 45 seconds to finish the attack.
- How do substitutions work in rink hockey?Teams may change players as often as they like, through the gate by their bench, the leaving player going off first.
Fouls and cards
- What is a technical foul in rink hockey?Technical fouls break the playing rules without being about contact: lifting the ball too high, handling it, playing it with the stick's edge, trapping it against the barrier or standing in the goalkeeper's zone without it.
- What is a team foul in rink hockey?Team fouls are minor fouls, such as pushing, holding, an illegal block or hitting an opponent's stick, that the auxiliary referee counts against the team for the whole match.
- What happens when a rink hockey player gets a blue card?A blue card to a player on the rink leaves their team a player short for two minutes, a red card for four.
Restarts and results
- How is play restarted in rink hockey? Most fouls are restarted with an indirect free hit: the ball still, one touch, the opponents at least 3 m away.
- What is a direct free hit in rink hockey?A direct free hit is taken from 7.40 m and a penalty from 5.40 m, one on one against a goalkeeper who must stay still on the goal line until the whistle.
