How a pencak silat fight works

1. Pencak silat is a martial art of the Malay world. In tanding two fighters, from the red and blue corners, fight inside an 8 m circle.
2. A clean punch to the trunk scores 1 point and a kick 2, if it is powerful and unblocked.
3. A drop, putting the opponent on the mat with a sweep, a throw or a valid strike, scores 3 while the dropper stays up and in control.
4. If the fight goes the distance, the fighter with more points wins.

How long

Seniors fight three rounds of 2 minutes, with a minute's rest.

The other category, jurus, is routines performed alone, in pairs or in teams, scored by ten jurors.
