What if a para rower moves more than their class allows?
A · Advanced · Racing · 4 of 4At the Paralympics, qualification regattas, world championships and World Cups, classifiers may watch training and racing for strapping or movement that does not match a rower's class. A rower found moving outside the class is excluded from that class's events at the regatta. The Chief Classifier may protest. If an appeal moves a rower up, that crew's results and prizes are cancelled.
How it works
- Where: Games, qualification, worlds and World Cups.
- What: strapping and movement against the class.
- Who decides: international classifiers.
- Penalty: excluded from the class's events, not ranked.
- Protests: under R15, regulation 5.
- Chief Classifier: may protest for fairness.
- Appeal to a higher class: results and prizes cancelled.
- Kit missing: relegation, then exclusion.
The glossary has the movement outside the sport class, the classification protests (para rowing), the sanction for missing equipment, the first appearance and observation assessment (para rowing), the right to compete (para rowing) and the Appendix R14.
