How a match works, in a minute
How para dressage works
- Para dressage is dressage for riders with a physical or visual impairment. Men and women always compete together.
- Riders are classified into five Grades, from Grade I (the most impaired) to Grade V. Each Grade rides its own official tests: set patterns of movements in an arena.
- Judges mark each movement out of 10. The total becomes a percentage of the maximum, and the highest percentage wins.
- The Freestyle is a test ridden to music, for riders who qualify from the other tests.
How long
A Freestyle lasts 4 to 5 minutes, depending on the Grade.
