What aids can para dressage riders use?
I · Intermediate · Grades and aids · 1 of 3Compensating aids are aids beyond normal saddlery. Standard aids, such as gloves, a soft hand hold, one whip or knotted reins, are open to all. Profile-specific aids are for listed profiles and go on the Master List. Non-standard aids need the FEI panel's approval, requested at least two weeks before the horse inspection. Using incorrect aids costs 10 percentage points.
How it works
- Standard aids: open to all, not listed.
- Profile-specific: for nominated profiles, on the Master List.
- Non-standard: FEI Compensating Aids Panel approval.
- Deadline: two weeks before the horse inspection.
- Responsibility: the rider's.
- Incorrect aids: minus 10 percentage points.
- Incorrect equipment: elimination.
- Examples: gloves, deep saddle, safety vest.
The glossary has the compensating aids, the standard compensating aids, the hand holds, the penalty for incorrect aids, the foot reins and the strapping and Velcro.
