How a match works, in a minute
How para dance sport works
- Para dance sport is competitive dance in which at least one dancer uses a wheelchair.
- A combi is a wheelchair user dancing with a standing partner; a duo is two wheelchair users; a single is one wheelchair user dancing alone.
- Conventional events use the standard and Latin dances, danced in heats; adjudicators pick who goes through, and in the final the lowest total of placings wins. Freestyle is one programme of the dancers' own choice.
- Freestyle is marked by seven to nine adjudicators on technical skills and choreography.
How long
Each conventional dance lasts at most one and a half minutes. A freestyle programme lasts 1:30 to 3:00, depending on the event.
