How para-cycling works
- Para-cycling is road and track racing for riders with a permanent eligible impairment.
- Riders race in four divisions set by the machine: handcycle, driven by the arms; tricycle; bicycle; and tandem, for vision-impaired riders with a sighted pilot in front who steers.
- Each division has its own classes, numbered from the most impaired: H1 to H5 for handcycles, T1 and T2 for tricycles, C1 to C5 for bicycles.
- Races work as in cycling. Road races run on closed circuits; on the track there are time trials and pursuits from starting blocks.
