How do you score in netball?
B · Beginner · The game · 4 of 8Checked 15 October 2026
A goal is scored when the ball passes right through the ring from a shot by the Goal Shooter or Goal Attack inside the goal circle, lines included. The shooter must stay within the circle, shoot within three seconds and keep the footwork rule. A defender's deflection still counts. Defenders may not move the post.
How it works
- Who: GS or GA.
- Where: in the circle, lines included.
- Hold: three seconds.
- Footwork: applies.
- Deflection: still a goal.
- Moving the post: penalty pass.
- Touching it down through the net: penalty pass.
- Each goal: one point.
The glossary has the goal, the shot, the interference with shot, the goal circle, the Goal Shooter and the Goal Attack.
