How a match works, in a minute
How a flag football game works
- Flag football is American football without contact. Two teams of five try to carry or pass the ball over the other team's goal line.
- A ball carrier is stopped by pulling a flag from their belt, not by a tackle. That ends the play.
- A team starts on its own 5-yard line with four plays, or downs, to get past the middle line, then four more to score. If it fails, the other team takes over.
- A touchdown is worth six points, with one extra play after it for one or two more. The higher score wins.
How long
Two halves of 20 minutes, with a clock that runs almost all the time.
